Honoring The Breed's Legacy With Each Mile On The Trail
Our commitment is to preserve the remarkable workability of the Siberian Husky while moving the breed forward through careful and intentional breeding, regularly conducting health and genetic testing available for the breed. We focus on producing dogs that not only shine in a variety of sports—such as mushing, conformation, scent detection, rally obedience, barn hunt, and trick dog competitions—but also embody the qualities of a loving and loyal companion. By prioritizing both performance and temperament, we strive to ensure that these magnificent dogs thrive in active roles and bring joy to the lives of their owners.
It all changed back in 2014 when we decided to add a Siberian Husky puppy to our family. The universe led us to Annette Dionne, the owner of Nanook Siberians kennel in Canada (www.nanooksiberians.com). Looking back now, it was a very good decision. A five-hour drive and a crazy snowstorm that day didn’t stop us from meeting Annette and spending hours talking about dogs, enjoying every minute of it. As we drove up her driveway, her husband was walking a white puppy who would later change everything. This puppy was five months old at the time, and two days after meeting Annette’s beautiful kennel, we brought him home. Little did I know this puppy, now known as ‘SD-CH BaIS Nanook's Crazy Wind RN, CGN, TT’ (the letters represent titles he has earned during performance events), would make us fall in love with the breed. We call him Silver.
Despite the challenges we faced during the first few months with a Siberian Husky puppy, we cannot imagine our lives without him. His stubbornness, boundless energy, and the difficulty in training were just a few of the challenges; however, the love and laughter he brought us are immeasurable. Silver and I competed in various sports, building a bond I never thought possible with a dog. This breed is not easily trainable, as they are not motivated to please you unless it serves their interests; rather, they seek to work with you as a team.
Falling in love with this beautiful breed led us back to Nanook Siberians two years later, when we brought home our foundation girl. The journey that followed, and continues to this day, has brought us many laughs, immense love, amazing friendships, and invaluable mentorship from Annette Dionne, to whom we are eternally grateful for guiding us into the world of this amazing breed.
If you are looking for a puppy that will learn commands, be obedient, heal at your left side on command, not pull on the leash, come whenever called, not shed, and spend lots of time lounging on the couch, the Siberian Husky is not the breed for you. Please note, this breed is NOT suited for off-leash activities.
If you are still interested in a Siberian Husky puppy after reading this, I highly recommend conducting thorough research on the breed before adding one to your family. Most of the challenges you’ll read online regarding this breed tend to be true.
If you're looking to add a teammate with whom you'll engage in various activities, embark on adventures, and you won’t mind dog hair in your house and on your clothes—if you're ready to groom regularly, have at least a 6-foot fenced area, prepare for the chaotic first year, and commit to loving and caring for this puppy—please send us a message. We would love to talk dogs with you and share our experiences.
Our focus is on breeding healthy puppies with sound temperaments by carefully selecting breeding pairs and conducting health and genetic testing available for the breed. Our dogs are purebred and registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, competing in various dog sports.
